Habitat
An annual erect herb 30-100cm. high. Flowers from July to September. On slopes and roadside in dry, exposed areas.
Preparation
Use seeds and whole herb. Collect in summer and autumn and dry under sun.
Properties
Bitter tasting; cool. Cures inflammation of the eyes and eases hypertension.

种子Seeds:
- 急性眼结膜炎，角膜炎Acute conjunctivitis, keratitis
- 慢性葡萄膜炎Chronic uveitis
- 高血压Hypertension
全草Whole herb
- 痢疾Dysentery
- 尿道感染。Urinary tract infection.
每用种子3至5钱，全草1至2辆，水煎服。青光眼患者禁服。Use seed 10-15gm, herb 30-60gm. Prepare as decoction. Contraindicated in Glaucoma.
Prescriptions
- Acute conjunctivitis, sore eye: Celosia argentea seeds, Scutellaria baicalensis, Gentiana scabra 9gm each, Chrysanthemum morifolium 12gm, Rehmannia glutinosa (untreated) 15gm, as decoction.
- Hypertension: Celosia argentea seeds, Cassia tora seeds, Chrysanthemum morifolium, Prunella vulgaris 9gm each, Haliotis diversicolor (abalone shell) 12gm, as decoction.
